This One's For the Dangerous Dreamers

A flag with these words flew aboard Oliver Hazard Perry's flagship “Lawrence" in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. Perry named his ship after Captain James Lawrence (1781-1813), whose dying words were “Don't Give Up The Ship."

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did."

- Col. T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia), 1922

  • This one’s for the dangerous dreamers and the goal setters; the driven optimists.
  • Those who find joy and gratitude in the day’s silver linings and small successes.
  • Those who’ve found wisdom in the failures of their past.
  • Those who’ve ever heard “No,” and were met with a closed door, but took it as a learning opportunity to go back to the drawing board and build a window.
  • Those ever buffeted by the storms of life, who’ve chosen to adjust the position and perspective of their sails, rather than allow the wind to dictate their destiny.
  • Those who live their lives with the conviction that life is short and time is fleeting...
  • Those who’ve never forgotten where they’ve come from and know where they’re going.
  • Those who find their Why and never give up on living and mastering it.
  • Those who've learned that hard-fought success tempered with humility brings satisfying silence to the skeptic’s scorn.
  • For the prayer warriors and burden bearers.
  • To those who’ve been extended a hand and lifted up on the shoulders of others on their own journey…
  • And then turned around to pay it forward to those rising up behind them.
  • This one’s for you. Don’t give up the ship. There’s still plenty of fight left in you yet.
